The Alexa Rose Foundation is thrilled to kick off its fifth year of supporting the artistic community. Over the past four years, Alexa Rose has seen a massive influx of applicants, from 100 in 2015 to more than 280 in 2018. Artists from across the Boise River Valley have been funded to attend workshops, build studios, shoot films, travel, write, sculpt and create art that moves them and enrichens the community at large.
Helping make the Boise River Valley a place where creative people thrive is a priority of the Alexa Rose Foundation. Our applicant eligibility is geographically limited to all those who reside in Ada or Canyon County. This year and going forward we are extending eligibility to the descendants of Boise Valley Tribes who were forcibly removed from this land in 1869. They were relocated to five reservations far from Boise, but this valley is still their homeland and they are valued members of the extended Boise Valley creative community. The members of the Burns Paiute, Paiute Band of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Fort McDermitt and Paiutes & Shoshone, Shoshone-Paiute Tribes and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Duck Valley and Fort Hall Reservations are eligible and encouraged to apply.
As the foundation continues to grow, we here at Alexa Rose look forward to expanding our reach, supporting artists from all socioeconomic backgrounds and providing them with the tools they need to thrive as working professionals.
The 2019 application will open January 14 at 10:00AM MT and close March 4 at 10:00AM MT. Winners will be announced in late May.
In preparation for the new grant cycle, Alexa Rose will be hosting a series of grant writing workshops in January and February. These free, 60-minute sessions will provide information about the type of work we fund and how to make your application shine.
