Alexa Rose Foundation Announces The Carnegie Studios Opening June 2018
in Boise’s Historic Carnegie Library
Boise—Since its founding in 2013 The Alexa Rose Foundation has granted $240,000 to 115 individual artists in the Boise Valley to further their creative practice. Grants have paid for education, mentoring, travel, equipment, supplies, production and other expenses. This year the Foundation received 280 applications and anticipates granting up to $150,000 in 2018.
Today the Foundation is pleased to announce a new venture to further the organization’s mission of supporting local artists. The Alexa Rose Arts Foundation will provide needed space for local artists to create, manage and share creative work within a facility called The Carnegie Studios. Located in the inspiring and historic Carnegie Library Building, the Carnegie Studios will provide artist-in-residence space for local filmmakers, visual, literary and performing artists; provide office and flexible meeting space for artists and arts organizations; and present temporary art exhibits.
Up to eighteen artist studio spaces will be provided free or for minimal cost as part of an artist residency/fellowship program to actively practicing mid-career artists in Ada and Canyon Counties. Spaces will be awarded based on a juried process according to need and quality of work. Studio residencies will be provided for terms up to one year.
Office spaces will be provided for organizations in Ada and Canyon County based on availability and their service to individual artists. Flexible meeting space will be made available to individual artists and member organizations that serve artists. This space will be conducive for member organization Board and committee meetings, meetings between collaborating artists, meetings between artists and their clients, play readings and more.
THE ALEXA ROSE FOUNDATION FURTHERS THE CREATIVE WORK OF INDIVIDUAL ARTISTS THROUGH GRANTS, FELLOWSHIPS AND SPACE, STRENGTHENING THE CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT OF THE BOISE VALLEY AND BENEFITING THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE.
