A writer for Robert Redford’s Wildwood Productions, Paramount Pictures, and 20th Century Fox Studios, Philip also wrote and directed the feature film, “Not This Part of the World”, and two shorts which aired on Starz-Encore, HBO-Latin America, Canal Plus, et al. He has ten Off-Broadway theatre credits including critically acclaimed productions of “Macbeth”, and his own plays “The Ascetic of Lincoln County” and “Leapfrog Through Time and Space”. His play, “Charlotte’s Web We Weave”, has been a perennial favorite in Seattle. He teamed with his son to make four films in Cambodia, including “Mommy’s Land”, which won Amnesty International’s Human Rights Award in Italy last summer. His films have screened at Cannes, Full Frame, Palm Springs, and many other festivals. He is the recipient of the Stanley Drama Prize, The ACTF Kennedy Center Medallion, and numerous grants, fellowships, awards, and residencies. He is a member of PEN, WGA, and teaches dramatic writing at Boise State University.
