Elisabeth Sharp McKetta teaches writing for Harvard Extension School and is the author of six books: The Fairy Tales Mammals Tell (2013), described by novelist Ben Fountain as a collection of “wise, unflinching poems”; The Creative Year: 52 Workshops for Writers (2014), praised as a guidebook that “will make everyone want to write”; Poetry for Strangers Vol. I and II (2015, 2017), two lively collections of poems based on encounters with strangers ranging from post office clerks to Salman Rushdie; Fear of the Deep (2016), a collaboration with artist Troy Passey; and Energy: The Life of John J. McKetta Jr. (2017), a biography of a coal miner who set out to change America’s use of energy. Her work links fairy tales and autobiography. She lives with her family in Boise.
